Jason's Quest by Margaret Laurence; Alfred A. Knopf, New York; First edition; 1970. Laurence's first children's book of fiction. A fantastic association copy of late Canadian author to another famous Canadian and her children. Book is in rare and hard to find Gibralter Library Binding (Not an Ex-Library copy). Has illustrated boards; without Dust Jacket as issued. Signed and inscribed to Margaret Trudeau, wife of the late Pierre Elliot Trudeau (1919-2000), former Canadian Prime Minister, as follows: "Margaret Trudeau - for your children when they're a bit older --- with best wishes from Jason OLIVER Calico Topaz and Margaret Laurence ----------- 1976" 'Jason's Quest' being her first children's book is uncommon to find, it is very uncommon to find any Margaret Laurence signed books, and also very uncommon to find in this special binding. It is also scarce to find such a rare and touching inscription as this. |
